Play Date Playbook

This page is your guide to what it's like to play golf with Elite Ladies Golf League. Whether you’re new to league play or just need a refresher, you’ll find everything here—from how our play dates work to the unique ways we mix competition with sisterhood and fun.
9-Hole and 18-Hole Options
We know not everyone wants to play a full 18 holes every time, and that’s perfectly fine. ELGL accommodates both 9-hole and 18-hole preferences.
- When possible, we will group 9-hole players together.
- Everyone tees off around the same time using consecutive tee times.
- One Saturday each month, 9-hole players will be scheduled to join the 18-hole players on the back 9.
- Less experienced players will be paired with experienced members to support learning and mentorship.
When We Play
We meet twice a month—on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month. Play dates rotate throughout four regions of the DFW area to give everyone an opportunity to play near home:
1. North DFW: Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Denton, The Colony
2. South DFW: Arlington, Grand Prairie, Mansfield, Cedar Hill, Waxahachie
3. East DFW: Dallas, Garland, Mesquite, Rockwall, Rowlett
4. West DFW: Fort Worth, Irving, Grapevine, Hurst, Weatherford
Arrival & Pace of Play
Please arrive at least 45 minutes before your tee time to check in, get your cart, and—if there's time—hit a few balls.
Pace of play is extremely important. A typical round should take no more than 4 hours. We must all do our part to maintain this pace and avoid causing delays for the groups behind us.
- Always be ready to play when it's your turn.
- Do not hit into the group ahead of you. Give them plenty of room and wait until it is safe.
- If there's even a slight chance you might hit someone, wait until they move further up.
- Respect everyone’s time—be on time, move quickly, and stay aware.
Themes & Games
Each play date includes a fun theme or golf game to keep things fresh. Every week, someone will win a prize—no matter their skill level.
$1 Weekly Contest
Each week we host an optional $1 contest. Everyone who wants to participate contributes $1 to the pot. The winner of that week’s designated game (e.g., fewest putts, most fairways hit) takes the whole pot.
How We Play
- Putting: Always putt out—no gimmees. If you miss three putts, pick up your ball, add one stroke to your score, and mark the hole with an asterisk (*) on your scorecard.
- Only one scorecard per foursome must be submitted to the league each week with all scores listed.
- All scores must also be entered into Squabbit.
- Newer players will be paired with more experienced players for mentoring. Golf mentors may instruct less experienced players to pick up, hit a second ball, or drop beside a fellow player to help maintain pace of play.
Additional Local Rules & Guidelines
- Max Strokes Per Hole: 10 on Par 4s/5s and 7 on Par 3s. A player who reaches max may still be eligible for games like 'Most Pars' or 'Fewest Putts'.
- Penalty Areas: All water is considered a penalty area.
- Environmentally Sensitive Areas (ESA): Do not enter ESA. Relief is allowed with a one-stroke penalty.
- Drop Zones: Use designated drop zones with one-stroke penalty when required.
- Rocky Areas: Free relief allowed to protect clubs (not to improve position).
- Lift, Clean & Place: Allowed in general areas (not bunkers or penalty areas). Place within one grip length, no closer to hole.
- Immovable Obstructions: Relief may be taken from cart path signs, stakes, or other permanent objects.
- When in doubt about a rule, play a second ball and clarify with the league after the round. Take a photo if needed.
